We offer effective and developmentally specific drug and alcohol rehab within a safe and nurturing residential environment. Residential drug treatment offers a plethora of services and protocols designed to help clients form values and identity in order to re-enter society not only drug-free but stable and ready to become responsible and contributing young adults.
At the New Roads Residential Treatment Program, we are trendsetters of young adult treatment because we provide unique and proven programming that effectively focuses on the developmental and identity tasks that this age group needs. We begin by resolving the issues that brought the client to our door, while addressing accomplishment of emerging adulthood tasks. Clients complete the program not only understanding what recovery looks like, but solidifying their commitment to who they really are and moving toward realizing their life goals. Our Residential Treatment Program boasts multifaceted individualized treatment programming that encourages our clients to grow at their own pace and ability. Our evidence-based therapeutic approaches, offered by seasoned staff, provide coping strategies used in the “real world” which allows our clients to have experiences that will ensure their continued success.

Tailored specifically to the needs of young adults
We want the best for our loved ones and ourselves. Choosing a treatment program is no different – in fact, it is probably one of the most important decisions we make. We want to choose the best: a program designed specifically for our unique needs. New Roads was created very specifically for males and females ages 18 to 25.
We make sure that a young adult is on track to become autonomous, and commit to an identity, or at least find a true sense of who they are. We focus on relationship development, emotional regulation, being a responsible part of a community and a larger development of sociopolitical views, core values and confidence in self. This allows for the natural progression of being able to sustain college, or choose a vocation and become employed. It may be hard to establish attachment to self and others if one has not developed trust or a sense of identity but it is imperative to recovery. Failure to achieve a sense of identity results in falling back to old behaviors. This is why we focus our treatment in this area.
Our programs are service-rich and dual diagnosis enhanced - designed specifically to address the developmental needs of young adults.
Who should consider residential treatment
Though our clients come from supportive, loving families, they have experienced difficulty navigating the developmental tasks associated with this stage of development due to behavioral and substance abuse problems. These hurdles have hampered their ability to flourish in their daily lives and to launch successfully into adulthood. Some of the specific difficulties a potential residential client may face prior to entering our programs include:
- Substance abuse
- Emotional and mental health needs
- Oppositional attitude
- Trouble getting along with family and loved ones
- Developmental and Identity issues
- Lack of responsibility
- Failure to understand the severity of consequences
- Trouble with school and/or employment

Things to Do
We are located in an ideal setting for year round recreation opportunities. The Wasatch Mountains create extraordinarily wonderful surroundings for skiing, snowboarding, hiking, mountain biking, repelling, and many other experiential activities. Within the facility we offer a gym with exercise classes, sauna, cardio, and weightlifting. (Learn more)
Length of stay
We firmly believe that, in order to effectively recover from drug and alcohol addiction, a primary stay in treatment should be at least 90 days. Often, clients who undergo 30 and 45-day treatment stays realize their recovery process requires more time to really take hold. We ask for a commitment to your life and health in a serious way that will then lay a true foundation so that a year from now your life has truly undergone a transformation. Take the time to fully understand and begin to overcome what you’re up against, so the rest of your life can be different. We promise to give you our full clinical attention and work with you to create a life experience that actually changes who you are.
Cost of the program
We, because of our mission, are one of the lowest-cost programs in the industry. This does not mean the services or facilities are inferior. As mentioned, our services are as comprehensive and our facility as state-of-the-art as many of our higher cost competitors.
