The vision of the New Roads Treatment Centers was conceived by a group of Utah businessmen- all of whom had seen first-hand the ravages of addiction upon their loved ones. Together, they resolved to help similarly afflicted families by creating affordable and effective treatment centers for young adults. They approached New Roads’ current CEO, who was at the time running a different addiction center, to help them develop a program, a target population, and a business plan. The result was New Roads: a group of programs dedicated to utilizing therapeutic culture, science-based treatment, and simple caring to help young adults recover from addiction and emotional pain. By offering young adults and their families a developmentally specific model of treatment, we are stepping out of the box and committing to success through acceptance and understanding of who they are.

The CEO of our company, Eric Schmidt, has completed both an MBA and an MSSW. Eric, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, has 20 years of experience in both the not-for-profit and the for-profit sides of the industry. This background has enabled him to create a clinically based, service rich program at a cost people can afford. Eric most recently was the Executive Director of Odyssey House where he provided a solid foundation for continued growth. This experience has enabled him to champion the New Roads endeavor. Eric is also an adjunct faculty member at the University of Utah School of Social Work.

Devon Romo, CAADAC, our Admissions and Outreach Coordinator, has worked in the treatment field for more than a decade. Her genuine and demonstrated empathy in the admissions process puts both clients and families at ease as they embrace treatment. She feels extremely grateful to have the opportunity to work with such an exciting program!
